Pastoral Search

On March 4, Pastor Terry Sawatsky announced his intention to retire effective June 30, 2021.  Though we will miss their presence and ministry, we send them forth with a blessing on their new life and work in Prince Rupert, BC.

Friends Community Church will be celebrating the completion of Pastor Terry’s and Cathy’s ministry among us and Terry’s retirement at the worship services on June 27.  This is not only a time of looking back in celebration of a season of ministry completed, but it is also a time of looking forward in anticipation to the calling of a new pastor and a new season of ministry.

With Pastor Terry’s support and encouragement, the congregation is now in a process of prayer, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit to prepare the heart of the person who God is calling to fulfill the role of Lead Pastor for such a time as this.

Friends Community Church (an arm of the Mennonite Brethren Church), Carman, MB, is prayerfully seeking a full-time lead pastor who has a demonstrated love for God and the Church and is gifted in preaching, Bible teaching, and pastoral care and who will lead the ministry team and church, in conjunction with the Church Leadership Board, to carry out specific functions of evangelism, discipleship, and ministry through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our mission statement is “to love God and build friendships with our neighbors.” Carman is located 75 km west of Winnipeg on Highway 3 and 41 km directly north of the cities of Winkler and Morden. It is the desire of this congregation that the successful candidate will have a deep commitment to and involvement in the community life of the Carman/Dufferin district.
